Myth 4 of 5: HEALTHY FOOD TAKES TOO MUCH TIME.
This actually isn’t true.
Even without accounting for the fact that fast foods have low nutritional value (you aren’t getting a lot of quality ingredients to fuel your body) or considering all the chemicals, preservatives, and nutritional stressors they introduce to your body, fast food is NOT cheaper! There are many studies that show you’re actually are paying more for the convenience of fast food.
An experiment by Oakton Community College calculated the price of whole food items per person, per week. The cost of most grocery store items was between $1 and $2 per person, per week. Tortillas ($5.60) and cheese ($4 – which we don’t even eat in this program) were the most expensive items.
The average cost of a single fast-food meal from a lunch or dinner menu was nearly $6. The convenience of fast food aside, whole foods provide your body with greater nutrition at a fraction of the cost. Plus, with my time-saving recipes and tips, even the convenience argument loses its power.
When I’m asked this question, the first thing I always say is: Would you rather pay the doctor or the farmer? Do you want to spend a fortune in the future trying to fix what is being damaged today by the choices you are making?
